2016 SEEK Annual All Staff (This Is SEEK) Awards
August 2016

The winner of “The Innovator” Award, a recognition for pushing the boundaries of search capabilities at SEEK. This is a recognition of work done to institute search quality at SEEK, introduce an evaluation framework, and popularise continuous relevance improvement through hypothesis-driven thinking and testing. The finalists were selected based on popularity and merits.

6th SEEK Hackathon (SEEK Internal Innovation Challenge)

A member of the winning team for the Marketer Award for a hack on conversational system, which was selected from amongst 43 competing teams across the business.

2015 ARC Linkage Grant
July 2015

A partner investigator in the project “User-Adaptive search and evaluation for complex information-seeking tasks” between SEEK, RMIT University and The University of Melbourne, which was awarded $394,000 by the Australian Research Council (ARC).

4th SEEK Hackathon (SEEK Internal Innovation Challenge)

A member of the winning team for the Disruptor Award for a hack on document clustering, which was selected from amongst 36 competing teams across the business.

5th TNT Day (Sensis Internal Innovation Challenge)
June 2013

A member of the winning team for the Internal Category, which was selected from amongst 12 entries across the business. The TNT Day is a hackathon style event which provides staff with the opportunity to design and develop innovative ideas in 24 hours.

3rd Telstra Innovation Challenge
October 2011

One of the five national winners of the Telstra Innovation Challenge for the project “Cross-domain, Open-ended Conversational System”. The winners were selected from 19 shortlisted entries by a panel of Telstra Executives based on their significance and importance to the Australian community.

20th Western Australian IT & Telecoms Awards (WAITTA)
February 2011

2nd place in the Innovation Category for the submission “QED: The Web-Scale Information Exploration Engine”. The 20th Western Australian Information Technology & Telecommunications Awards (WAITTA) recognises outstanding R&D projects that demonstrate the use of outside-of-the-box concepts to improve ICT applications.

University of Western Australia Research Development Awards

An award of $23,938 for the project “Extracting and Visually Representing Clinical Concepts for Interpreting Noisy Progress Notes”.

Emerging Leaders’ Dialogue
October 2009

Invited (fully-funded) participation in the 2009 Emerging Leaders’ Dialogue on “Our Future Knowledge Economy” in Beijing. Only 30 outstanding research higher degree students from a range of disciplines across the Asia-Pacific region were selected.
